A surgical technologist, also called a scrub, scrub tech, surgical technician, or operating room technician, is an allied health professional working as a part of the team delivering surgical care. Surgical technologists are members of the surgical team.
Provides assistance in perioperative cases. Selects supplies, instruments and equipment for individual cases. Scrubs for each case and hands instruments to physicians. Operates specialized equipment. Works under the supervision of the RN in delivering safe and effective care to the patient during the intraoperative period. Effectively interacts with the patient and health care team members, while maintaining the surgical department standards.
Scrubs various types of surgical cases and performs patient-related activities under the direction of the physician and/or RN
Selects supplies, instruments, and equipment for each case
Prepares cases and rooms for next day operation
Assists surgeons by scrubbing and handing instruments and scopes during surgery
Maintains the sterility of the surgical field and instruments at all times
Must be able to get along with others, be a team player, accept constructive criticism from your supervisor, and be able to follow work-related rules

Current CST certification OR ability to obtain within one year of hire date
On-the-job training with related healthcare OR completion of Surgical Tech Program
Education and/or Certification/Licensure
High School Diploma and/or GED required
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
CPR certification required
Surgical Technologist certification required
