Job Description


Under the direction of the Wastewater Field Manager the Field Technician performs a wide variety of tasks to provide wastewater, storm water and waste testing services to support coworkers and meet the expectations of EMT’s clients. Install, operate and service various monitoring and sample collection equipment with support items needed to facilitate the collection of representative samples for analysis according to EMT’s standard operating procedures and protocols in a culture of safe action, honest and ethical behavior in all field service activities. The field technician will perform specific duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure that client service requests are met, and will act as the subject matter expert in equipment operation assignments in discussions with sales, project management and administrative staffs when the Supervisor is not available. The Field Technician must display motivation to see projects, both routine and non-routine, through to completion, practice proactive customer service with all clients.


+ Meet all requirements on your daily schedule.

+ Communicate effectively with Wastewater Field Manager, co-workers and clients to ensure each job is completed to yield the best possible results in the allotted or estimated time period.

+ Document and collect accurate, believable, defensible flow data.

+ Install sampling and flow monitoring equipment in a timely and efficient way as to achieve the most possible representative sample.

+ Sample pick-ups and deliveries are done efficiently and in a manner so samples are not broken, logged-in incorrectly or missed.

+ Must be able to work weekends and overtime when required.

+ Design and plan equipment installation for new projects or to replace old equipment

+ Calibrate and diagnose problems with flow meters and flow measurement

+ Perform confined space entries where necessary

+ Perform all other duties assigned to you by the Wastewater Field Manager

+ Follow EMT policy without exception

+ Follow EMT safety policy without exception


+ Must be able to lift/carry heavy equipment, coolers, etc. (up to 50 lbs.).

+ Must be able to work in all types of varying weather conditions.

+ Must be able to install, operate and service monitoring equipment in confined spaces.


+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills;

+ Self-directed; goal and outcome orientation.

+ Must posses a valid driver’s license.

+ Must be able to be insured by EMT’s insurance carrier to drive company vehicles safely and effectively.

+ Due to Client requirements for facility on-site access, background checks may be required
