Jacobs is looking for a Mid\-level Environmental Scientist/Wetland Specialist to work out of Chicago Higgins Office located near O’Hare International Airport and the CTA Blue Line\. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field, MS preferred, as well as 10 or more years of experience in an ecology/natural resources\-related environmental analysis\.

As an integral member of our team you will be responsible for leading wetland assessments and delineations, habitat assessments, vegetative studies, and other species\-specific surveys for a variety of transportation projects, including highway, bridge, airport, and other transportation infrastructure development\. The selected candidate will also be responsible for authoring reports, such as wetland delineation reports or environmental assessments and preparing environmental permit applications\.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Botany, or a related field required
  • Master of Science preferred, Major: Environmental, Biology, Botany or related field
  • 10 or more years of experience required
  • Experience with leading wetland delineations with adherence to federal and state environmental regulations required
  • Experience with Illinois and/or Midwest agency environmental permitting procedures and the preparation of NEPA documentation required
  • Familiarity with transportation or other linear infrastructure projects is preferred, as is progressively responsible task management and project management experience
  • Professional Wetland Scientist \(PWS\) Certification preferred or the education and experience necessary to obtain PWS certification
  • Ability to collect and analyze environmental and natural resource data to be used in developing alternatives to study under NEPA and related federal and state environmental disclosure laws required
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required
  • Ability to interact with clients and internal staff in a collaborative manner required
  • Ability to work in a team environment with staff of all range of skills and experience levels required
  • Ability to assist and support in conducting public and agency involvement programs preferred
  • Fluency in English \(verbal and written\) required
  • Strong computer skills required \(MS Office Suite of software programs \(Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint\)
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills required
