Parsons is now hiring an EnvironmentalTechnician V with a desire to work in a support role alongside the Project Manager on various Environmental Projects in Chicago and the surrounding areas.

In this role you will act in a lead capacity for the completion of a wide variety of the most complex tasks in support of the professional staff within an assigned unit. Work assignments may be in the office and/or at field sites. A willingness to travel and/or to relocate is expected. You may oversee wastewater treatment operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

+ Performs non-routine and occasionally heavy labor tasks related to on-site industrial waste, hazardous waste, field environmental surveys or operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities.

+ Collects samples and maintains documentation in record logs.

+ Operates trucks, pumps, vacuum equipment, oil booms, generators, and other machinery/equipment. Establishes and maintains appropriate logs of activities.

+ Tests, calibrates, repairs, and modifies control and instrumentation systems at on-site locations. Many assignments are completed independently. Gives leadership and guidance to lower level Technicians assigned to the same unit.

+ Prepares periodic or one-of-a-kind reports of various activities and findings. May initiate reports and/or establish and maintain logs and records. Reports may be for individual activity or summary of group activities.

+ Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

+ 2-year degree in a related field

+ 6+ years of experience

+ Completion of a 40-hour OSHA training course (with an annual 8-hour update) is required for industrial or hazardous wastewater operations.

+ Appropriate operator certification may also be required.

+ Proficiency in performing Technician assignments and responsibilities, as well as tasks and testing techniques related to operations.
