This National Guard position is for a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT
SPECIALIST (Title 32), Position Description Number D1638P02 and is

  1. Responsibilities

As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (Title 32), GS-0346-9/11, you
will apply technical expertise with computerized logistics
information systems to support deployment operations and

Major Duties – This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

- Implement logistics policy programs and procedures, utilizing
automated/non-automated systems for the accurate control of
logistical planning in support of contingency operations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Contingency
Operations/Mobility Planning and Executive Systems to assist in
selecting, deploying, and monitoring contingency forces.
- Design logistic packages to meet operational plans and
coordinate with tasked units to ensure compliance and accuracy
of systems.
- Formulate and consolidate logistical annexes for guidance, based
on regulations, manuals, instructions, and directives issued by
higher headquarters.
- Provide staff input and participation during peacetime and
actual/training deployments.
- Plan and develop deployment training, in addition to conducting
deployment training exercises.
- Ensure unit meets all pre-execution, command, and control
requirements for deployments.
- Review deployment assessment capabilities with superiors to
ensure required deployment training is being conducted.
- Brief superiors regarding plans for the movement of personnel
and equipment during simulated and actual deployments and
- Identify required deployment/redeployment support with staff for
the transportation of equipment and personnel.
- Determine the type and number of aircraft required for mission
- Validate load plans, hazardous cargo, priority shipments, and
customs clearance requirements.
- Ensure all personnel and equipment are properly identified and
prepared for deployment.
- Assist in determining the types and numbers, or quantity of
troops and equipment available for tasking.
- Review resource/logistics plans, programs, and deployment
activities to ensure authorized mobility equipment is available
or on order.
- Review resource/logistics plans, programs, and deployment
activities with supervisors to ensure authorized mobility
equipment is available or on order, and ensure equipment is
properly budgeted.
- Participate in site surveys to ascertain, identify, and plan
airlift and logistical support requirement needs in support of
contingency operations and tasks.
- Monitor the status of logistical readiness and determine
deviations in total logistical posture.

  1. Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this
position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in
the following manner and sequence,

- The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all
excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians in the
Peoria Air National Guard at Wayne A. Downing International
- The SECOND area of consideration will be all members of the
Illinois Air National Guard.
- The THIRD area of consideration will be all those eligible for
membership in the Illinois Air National Guard.

Military Grades: Enlisted Only – Not to exceed the rank of

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or
training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the
logistics field; experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 Level – Must possess specialized
experience, which includes at least 36 months experience, education,
or training identifying activities involving logistical support
operations; experience integrating the actions of a variety of
specialized support activities in order to develop a comprehensive
logistics plan; experience monitoring such functions as program
planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower
management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics
plan; experience identifying delays or problems and developing
corrective actions; experience working with people from various
levels and backgrounds to elicit their cooperation to perform
specific tasks, and complying with regulations, laws, or practices.
GS-09 Level – Must possess specialized experience, which
includes at least 24 months experience, education, or training
involving detailed knowledge of organizations and their functions in
logistical support (i.e., supply, maintenance, quality assurance,
facilities); experience integrating actions of a variety of
specialized support activities in order to meet program goals.
Experience interpreting and applying regulations, laws or practices;
experience planning and organizing work assignments.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade
level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this
