Below are important aspects of working at MV and having a successful career with us. Please let us know if you have any questions once you have read this document. It is critical that you understand these bullet points prior to your first day with us.
Training lasts 3.5 weeks and training pay is $10.50 per hour. For CDL with passenger endorsement holders training is 2.5 weeks.
When you have completed training and are driving on your own, pay is $12.00 per hour with set annual raises.
We offer medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401k plan, supplemental life insurance, and paid holidays after 90 days of employment to all full-time Drivers.
You will begin to accrue paid vacation time after 6 months of continuous employment.
Paid Holidays after 90 days of continuous full time employment and must work their scheduled day before and after the holiday.
Safety Bonus $ 200 per year for each year with no unsafe acts of chargeable accidents.
Full-time is classified as all non-temporary/seasonal employees who work at least 35 hours per week.
- Payday is every other Friday; checks are usually ready for pickup at Noon on payday Friday
- We offer service throughout the year.
- All drivers must bid a shift; we bid shifts a minimum of twice per year
Full Time drivers must be able to work either 5 days a week with 2 days off or 4 days a week with 3 days off.
- Available shifts or as needed by operations:
Start Time between 3 am and 6 am
Start Time between 12 pm and 3 pm
Start Time between 3 and 6 am
Expect to work 7,8,9 or 10 hours from the start time, with half an hour or one-hour lunch.
Expect to work 7,8,9 or 10 hours from the start.
Work 3 or 4 hours in the morning, have a break for 1,2, or 3 hours and then return in the afternoon for another 3 or 4 hours. Split shifts can be merged into 1 shift for 7,8,9, or 10 hours depending on operations need.
Must have driver’s license for 5 years without any suspensions or breaks.

- All new hires must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a DOT physical, have a clean driving record and a clean criminal background
- All employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing at any time
To be a successful driver at MV, it is important that you have knowledge of North Cook County streets and know how to read a map book. While optional, most drivers have purchased a GPS unit on their own. Furthermore, it is imperative that you are a safe driver and that you care about and enjoy helping others. Patience, while a virtue, is required when working with the elderly and people with disabilities.
