Job Description

Position Overview:

Paradigm is seeking a State of Illinois Certified Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to assist the staff at the Department of Military Affairs, Lincoln’s Challenge Academy (LCA) in Rantoul, IL with the teaching of life coping skills to the students at the Academy in the areas of Anger Management, Grief, Anxiety, Bullying, and other anti-social behaviors. LCA is a residential school for 16-19 year old high school dropouts considered at-risk youth. Using a military model, the cadets live in a quasi-military residential environment while completing an educational program that focuses on the development of the whole person.

Candidate must be able to provide the following documents:
Copy of College Diploma in the field of Social Work (BSW or MSW).
Copy of your LSW or LCSW license (State of Illinois).

Contract Length/Estimated Total Hours:
2 years/240 hours estimated

Required Duties:

  • Meet with the team counselors prior to meeting with students assigned to that team.
  • Attend group meetings during the afternoon/evenings (Monday through Friday, between 3:00 and 7:00 PM). Meet with a different team counselor and teams each evening in a group setting. (Each team consists of approximately 40 students)
  • Assist the team counselors with identifying students who need additional life skills coaching.

The facility holds two (2) classes per year. The next class will begin on or around July 29, 2019. The second term will begin on or around January 28, 2020. The teaching of life coping skills will not begin at the start of each term, but will be conducted after the students have completed the acclimation phase of the program. Meetings will be held for a six (6) week period during each class term. We are projecting that each session will take approximately 1.5 to 2.0 hours with a total of 7.5 to 10 hours per week.
