Sr. Manager, Communications – Global
+ Add an experienced external communicator to our team to help build Baxter’s reputation among key stakeholders in the U.S. and around the world.
+ Work alongside our global business unit teams to tell our story in new, innovative ways through traditional and social media, and owned channels.
+ Lead the development of communications strategy to align with our business strategy, and have the autonomy to implement ideas from start to finish.
+ Responsible for communications around new product launches and data publications, product and therapy promotion, issues management, patient advocacy campaigns, and thought leadership efforts
+ Responsible for positioning Baxter’s expertise in selected business units and how our innovation is reshaping and transforming healthcare in the U.S. and in key markets globally.
+ Support executive communications for selected GBU leaders.

+ The Sr. Manager will develop and execute communications plans for selected global business units to promote our product innovations (launches, regulatory milestones, etc.), medical congresses, patient education and disease awareness campaigns, and product-related issues management.
+ Gain media placements in top tier and trade media in the U.S. and other priority markets.
+ Build and manage strong relationships with internal stakeholders to implement communications initiatives.
Communications Strategy & Planning - Identify opportunities to broaden our story by developing strategic communications plans for all channels, including defining measurable targets.
Traditional Media – Identify opportunities to proactively promote our business, innovation projects and broader leadership in key media outlets. Individual will be responsible for developing relationships with specific journalists, pitching and securing media placements, responding to inquiries from journalists, and measuring impact of media activities. Individual will develop press releases to promote key milestones and events. Individual will work with country communicators to execute media engagement in key markets.
Social & Digital Media – Work with our team to develop dynamic content for Baxter’s social media channels and .com sites, in alignment with our overall content strategy. Act as a conduit between our digital team and the global marketing teams to ensure alignment to our overall digital strategy. Support global marketing campaigns on social media, as needed.
Executive Support – Provide communications counsel and support to our global business unit leaders. This includes supporting internal communications, external speaking opportunities and executive presence on social media, as needed.
Issues Management – Provide support for product related issues, including developing a communication strategy, writing key messages and statements, and engaging with the media, when appropriate.
Messaging/Materials Development – Develop integrated messages for internal and external audiences aligned to corporate, brand, product and therapy messaging. Understand Baxter’s brand guidelines and support internal stakeholder education and alignment. Create Q&A and media statements, among other materials, on a wide range of topics and issues, including research, drafting and editing.
Key Experiences, Attributes & Education
+ Demonstrated experience working with marketing team and other stakeholders to identify priorities, and develop communications strategy to meet our goals, while demonstrating measurable impact of efforts.
+ Proven track record of working with journalists in high-stakes settings, including issues management. Experience managing product-related issues, especially in a highly-regulated environment.
+ Demonstrated success in developing ongoing relationships that result in strong media placements in top tier media.
+ Strong and versatile writing skills for a variety of content types, channels and topics.
+ Experience with organic and paid social campaigns desired.
+ Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.
+ Proven ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and developing strong relationships to ensure success.
+ Highly motivated, with ability to make decisions independently.
+ Flexible and agile, with the ability to quickly change course when need arises.
+ Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
+ Proven job track record where media relations and senior leader support have been a primary focus.
+ Bachelor’s degree required in English, marketing, journalism, public relations, advertising, or transferrable area.
+ A minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications or public relations.Pharma, med tech or healthcare industry and agency experience desired, but not required.
