Estimator- Renewable Energy
Title:Estimator- Renewable Energy
Location:Glen Ellyn, IL
Assist in the development of technical scope of work and independently develop cost estimates and resource requirements for electrical capital construction projects involving substations, overhead/underground transmission and overhead/underground distribution systems for the Renewable Energy Group.
+ Assist with the request for overhead transmission and overhead distribution related proposal preparation and evaluations, project specifications, and pricing schedules.
+ Prepare project estimates based on limited information and general scopes of work, often lacking specific precedence.
+ Assist project team in scoping of projects for engineering, construction, and contractual requirements.
+ Develop detailed project estimates based on company standards and site specific facility drawings.
+ Perform material take-offs and cost analysis to support estimates.
+ Assist with the development of pricing schedules and weighting criteria for proposal evaluations.
+ Provide expert judgment of costs to support competitive bid and negotiated contracts.
+ Assist with the development of standardized historical cost databases and application tools to aid future estimates.
+ To provide oversight, coordination, management support and technical expertise for all aspects of overhead transmission and overhead distribution utility construction projects.
+ Assist in job hand off from estimating to field project supervision.
+ Work with the MJE Purchasing Department on material orders and required submittals
+ Work closely with Project Management, Operations and Project Controls to refine submittals, pricing, bid strategy and project progress
+ Standardize historical cost data bases and application tools to aid with future estimates
+ Travel to project(s) as needed
+ Quote change orders from drawing changes, RFI’s, etc.
+ Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
+ Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs
+ Proven communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
+ Knowledge of Acubid or other estimating software programs
+ Proficient in the use of Excel
+ Knowledge of overhead transmission and overhead distribution electrical construction practices
+ Knowledge of contract law, engineering and estimating principles
+ Demonstrated experience with Request For Proposal preparation and evaluation
+ Demonstrated experience estimating projects throughout their life cycle
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings and read and create electrical one-line diagrams
+ Extensive understanding of engineering and construction pricing
+ BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
+ 3-5 years of estimating, project management, design or construction management experience with a focus on electrical utility construction
