WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
The Technical Services Scientist will provide technical assistance in the operation and use of metalworking fluids and specialty lubricants for all business segments of Fuchs Lubricants Co., so as to maintain both internal and external customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include:
+ Provide immediate support to customers experiencing technical problems
+ Review and comment on routine running reports generated for individual customer systems.
+ Generate data and/or reports on non-routine troubleshooting analyses for customers both internal & external.
+ Support the sales representatives in troubleshooting endeavors via email, phone, and customer site visits.
+ Act as a mentor to less experienced chemists
+ Interface with R&D, Quality, and Product Management as well as Sales & Sales Management on a regular basis to solve issues.
+ Responsible for writing and maintaining work instructions for testing performed by the Technical Service team in accordance with the ISO quality system.
+ Develop improved test methods and calibration practices to upgrade support provided
+ Support & maintenance of laboratory equipment
+ Minimal travel (<10%)
WHAT WE EXPECT
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
+ Minimum ofeight years of experience in water-based or oil-based lubricant technologies or related fields
+ Technical service / customer support experience.
+ Knowledge of metal processing fluids such as coolants, cutting & grinding oils, metalforming lubricants, corrosion preventives, and cleaners or related areas
+ Knowledge of analytical and performance tests used in the metalworking industry
+ Ability to communicate clearly, both written & verbal
+ Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
+ Problem solving ability
+ Ability to handle stressful situations with a positive and constructive attitude
+ Advanced degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
+ Strong background in analytical chemistry
+ Experience with XRF, autotitrators, manual titrations, quenchometers, viscometers, Karl Fischer, flash point
+ Field support experience
+ Ability to think outside-the-box
