Position Description:

Flowserve is looking for an experienced repair mechanic to work on all processes related to disassembly and assembly of high energy pumps and decoking equipment. This is a second shift position, 2:30pm to 11:00pm, at our air-conditioned, clean, well-organized Quick Response Center in West Chicago, IL.

+ Disassemble, clean, balance, hydrostatic test, mechanical seal air test, and re-assemble engineered and industrial pump products in a rapid-response, “quick ship” environment.

+ Inspect pumps and components by using inside, outside, and depth micrometers to measure critical dimensions and runouts.

+ Read and accurately follow all work instructions, checklists, and engineering drawings or blueprints during all processes.

+ Act in a way that that encourages collaboration, teambuilding, decision-making, problem solving, and continuous improvements.

Position Requirements:

+ 5 to 10+ years of experience in after-market repair and service of mechanical equipment, with specific experience in rotating pumps highly desired.

+ Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, such as Micrometers, Verniers, Bore Gauges, Pressure Gauges, Meters, Dial Indicators, and Depth Gauges.

+ Demonstrated track record of reliable, dependable work ethic with a personal commitment to safety and quality workmanship, including proper housekeeping.

+ Standing for long times required, full range of movement required, frequent lifting with occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.

+ Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required on short notice to achieve company production and on-time delivery objectives.


+ Prior knowledge of pump or industrial equipment installation, commissioning and start up, operation, and maintenance.

+ Non-destructive examination experience preferred, with Level 2 certification a plus.

+ Welding and/or manual machining experience is a plus.

+ Forklift, rigging, and crane operation skills desirable. Basic computer skills.
