Job Summary

AECOM has an immediate need for an Environmental Field Technician to work in the Chicago area, based out of the office located on Wacker Drive. This is a field position that requires working outside, in inclement weather at times, walking in rugged terrain and at times lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. The position also requires some overnight travel within the region.

The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to the following

+ Gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.

+ Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.

+ Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories under supervision

+ Working outdoors in a field setting

Minimum Requirements

+ High School diploma required

+ 2+ years of relevant experience required

+ Environmental experience behind a drill rig collecting soil and ground water samples, air samples – including ambient air monitoring

+ Ability to fix things as discovered during the course of work and collecting samples

+ This is a field position and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment and to walk long distances in rugged terrain possibly in inclement weather

+ Familiarity with Health and Safety procedures

+ Experience using Word and Excel

+ Valid drivers license

+ Some overnight travel in the are may be required

+ Some weekend work also may be required

Preferred Qualifications

+ 40 hour OSHA certification is preferred

+ Experience in EHS desirable
