Responsible for the facilities management and engineering services activities to serve the Trinity Health Illinois Region (""Region"") in alignment with Trinity Health facilities management and engineering standards. Collaborates Serves as an active member of the Regional and local health ministry leadership teams with the principal goal of providing facilities management and engineering services for patients, visitors, colleagues across the Region. Develops and monitors facilities management and engineering processes to ensure alignment with Trinity Health values and Regional culture and supports Planning, Design and Construction on local construction projects. Plans, directs, controls, and evaluates the activities, functions, and management personnel for all facilities management and engineering service locations within the Region. Serves as member of the Environment of Care committee(s) within the region and is the key contact with Trinity Health to align facilities management and engineering services vendors and processes. Leads a team of resources to support facilities management and engineering services for the Region in partnership with operational leadership.
MISSION: ****Directs the development and implementation of Regional philosophy and objectives and assures they are congruent with the Trinity Health mission, values, and strategic plan. Comprehends, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision, and values in leadership behaviors, practices, and decisions. Supports and endorses senior leadership goals, objectives, strategies, and decisions. Demonstrates that providing a facilities management and engineering services objective for patients, visitors, and colleagues across the Region is the focal point of decision making.
PLANNING****: Leads strategic facilities management and engineering services planning for the Region in collaboration with Trinity Health, to meet customer need and organizational goals. Works with senior leadership to assess facilities management and engineering processes, opportunities, and challenges. Develops facilities management and engineering services plans to prepare the Region for future facilities and engineering needs and implement strategies to successfully meet those needs. Develops creative solutions for intervention and partners with operational leadership to implement within the Region. Adapts goals and plans to respond to the Regional environment and successfully meets challenging but achievable goals. Facilitates the integration of facilities management and engineering services within the Region and collaborates with Planning, Design and Construction to support local construction projects. Develops strategic and operational plans involving appropriate administrative and facilities management and engineering resources to address standardization and regionalization of personnel, programs, facilities, equipment, technology and interdepartmental relationships and interfaces.
OPERATIONS: ****Directs the development of policies, procedures and staffing plans essential to the day-to-day operation of multiple departments and locations across the Region. Assures the effective and efficient daily operations and long-term effectiveness of all facilities management and engineering services sites within the Region. Conducts annual reviews and revisions to meet current trends and organizational needs. Oversees and maintains accountability for compliance with all regulatory and standards including The Joint Commission, Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois licensing requirements, organizational quality improvement and fire safety programs for facilities management and engineering services within the Region. Provides management oversight of the Regional facilities management and engineering services program and ensures program objectives are met. Provides consultative, operational, and technical support to Regional managers and Trinity Health system office in support of facilities management and engineering services. Designs and implements the facilities management and engineering processes and tools for the Region, in alignment with Trinity Health.
TALENT MANAGEMENT****: Maintains a Regional organizational structure that facilitates safe, effective, patient-centered care/service that delivers a common care/service experience for all patients/customers. Plans and coordinates personnel and facilities management and engineering activities to assure safety, quality, satisfaction, efficiency, and consistency across the Region. Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, counsels, and supervises managerial staff within Region. Oversees and supports Regional site leaders in hiring, transferring, promoting, terminating, assigning and rewarding colleagues. Provides training and consultation to facilities management and engineering services colleagues to deliver consistent facilities management and engineering services to internal/external customers within the Region. Participates in discipline/grievance process as needed. Provides a work environment that fosters positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among colleagues across all facilities management and engineering service areas within Region.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT / METRICS****: Provides effective communication to Trinity Health system office, Regional leadership and colleagues to establish an effective understanding of organizational mission and strategic goals necessary to achieve them. Collaborates with Trinity Health and Regional leadership to develop and implement Facilities management and engineering services metrics to include monthly dashboard and detailed metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategies and tactics. Provides input to local health ministry and Regional leadership in the development of system goals and objectives. Assesses Facilities management and engineering services performance and satisfaction to measure, and improve services throughout the Region.
COMMUNICATION:**** Meets regularly with senior Regional leadership, Trinity Health representatives, other departments, and direct reports to facilitate communication, goal setting and decision making within Region. Represents Trinity Health to the public, healthcare communities, regulatory/government agencies, and media in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the organization. Maintains a multi-directional communication network with Trinity Health and Regional leaders and administration, providers, facilities management and engineering services managers and colleagues.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT****: Responsible for the Region’s facilities management and engineering service programs’ financial outcomes and meeting Regional departmental budgets according to established procedures. Develops an annual budget to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to support operations and meet Local Health Ministry and Regional goals. Participates in monthly budget reviews with Regional leadership and finance representatives to identify budget variances and preparing related reports for senior management review. Manages operational budget including expense, staffing levels and capital equipment sufficient to meet current and projected service requirements within Region and collaborates with Planning, Design and Construction to support local construction projects. Ensures effective and efficient utilization of resources. Reviews and monitors short and long-term Regional financial plans and objectives to ensure financial objectives stay on course. Drives initiatives with individual local health ministry teams that contribute to Regional short and long-term operational excellence. Reviews and approves expense reports and holds direct reports accountable to Trinity Health and Regional Health Ministry policies and procedures.
