Job Description
Under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Medical Director and Respiratory Therapy Department Director, the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) is responsible for providing Respiratory Care services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies and procedures, and guidelines.

Principal Duties, Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions:
Maintains knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery and assesses possible side effects of oxygen delivery.
Performs pulse oximetry including overnight and multiple checks with exercise and documentation of results as needed.
Administers respiratory therapy medications appropriately and understands the various modalities, purpose and side effects.
Set-up and monitoring of mechanical ventilators, assists with endotracheal intubations and airway maintenance.
Assists physician with bedside bronchoscopy, and obtaining, accurately labeling and timely delivery of specimens obtained.
Performs non-invasive ventilation with Bi-PAP and Vision systems as needed.
Performs bedside spirometry testing according to ATS guidelines and accurately documents results in the chart/distributes copy to physician.
Performs bronchial hygiene modalities such as CPT, clutter valve, and vest therapy as needed.
Performs equipment cleaning and reassembly correctly. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skill with equipment set-up and alarm testing such as SST for 840 ventilators.
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skill for mist tent set-up and use.
Assist with training of students and other staff as indicated.
