Christie Clinic’s Department of Nuclear Medicine is seeking a full-time Nuclear Medicine Tech position. The team member will perform a wide variety of nuclear medicine procedures including PET/CT to assist the Radiologist in the diagnosis of disease and ailments. Experience in an additional radiology modality preferred.
Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist program and ARRT (NM) certification required. Must be available Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM. At the Main Christie Clinic.
Qualified candidate must demonstrate clinical experience performing a variety of Nuclear Medicine imaging, must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs. 2 years of Nuclear medicine experience and CT or X-Ray experience preferred.
Greet patients and verify correct patient by using proper patient identifiers.
Verify correct ordering provider and exam.
Explain exam and educate patients on procedures.
Perform a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, including but not limited to, Cardiac, Abdominal, Bone, thyroid and SPECT imaging.
Operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation.
Draw up Radio-pharmaceutical material for administration to patients.
Calibrate instruments and review date to detect trends that may indicate instrument malfunction.
Select correct collimators for exam.
Process image date to include curves and reconstructed SPECT images.
Monitor department for possible contaminator of radio-pharmaceuticals.
Clean department daily/weekly for contamination.
Work with Cardiology department to coordinate Cardiology studies.
perform EKG preparation, as needed.
Start IV’s for injection of radio-pharmaceuticals, as necessary.
Administer thyroid therapy to patients, with Radiologists’ supervision, as necessary.
Send images to PACS and verify that they are correct.
Maintain accreditation records and ensure proper standards are in place including but limited to proper Quality Control programs.
Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist program.
Demonstrate clinical experience performing a variety of Nuclear medicine imaging.
Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s.
Current ARRT or NMTCB certification.
