Job Description

Hardware Engineer; Chicago, Illinois: Design, develop, modify, and/or test hardware needed for various Google projects. Duties include: develop circuit designs and ensure the systems succeed for high volume manufacturing; analyze product concept definitions and system architecture designs for consumer electronics; design product flow and engage in scripting to implement design; plan and engage in the validation of designs, including complete functional verification, signal characterization, and power modeling and testing; participate in developing scripts and low level code for hardware bring up; engage in the hardware integration of devices and programming; build relationships with vendors to discover and source leading edge components; perform technical evaluations of vendors and offer recommendations as needed; troubleshoot and debug hardware design implementations with vendors; ensure high speed circuit designs, layouts, and validations; perform the design and analysis of power distributions and power conversions; work with cross-functional teams to improve the implementation methodologies of designs; and engage system stability to ensure successful implementation of system designs. Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and two years of experience involving the following: RF and Electrical Engineering component characteristics, including performing RF RX sensitivity tests in a radiated environment; RF Standards and debugging RF Desense issues; wireless Co-Existence and Desense mitigation schemes; RF hardware and system design; electromagnetic and antenna theory inside portable wireless devices, including proper grounding, isolation and Desense mitigation techniques; and coordination of technical projects or programs, including presentation of technical subject matter to non-technical audiences. Or Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience involving the following: RF and Electrical Engineering component characteristics, including performing RF RX sensitivity tests in a radiated environment; RF Standards and debugging RF Desense issues; wireless Co-Existence and Desense mitigation schemes; RF hardware and system design; electromagnetic and antenna theory inside portable wireless devices, including proper grounding, isolation and Desense mitigation techniques; and coordination of technical projects or programs, including presentation of technical subject matter to non-technical audiences. Or PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, thesis, or dissertation or one year of experience involving the following: RF and Electrical Engineering component characteristics, including performing RF RX sensitivity tests in a radiated environment; RF Standards and debugging RF Desense issues; wireless Co-Existence and Desense mitigation schemes; RF hardware and system design; electromagnetic and antenna theory inside portable wireless devices, including proper grounding, isolation and Desense mitigation techniques; and coordination of technical projects or programs, including presentation of technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.
