Job Overview/Summary

The successful candidate will be an experienced Supply Chain / Manufacturing Leader that has demonstrated transformation leadership with a track record of accomplishment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Skills required include managing and developing people, delivering results across key performance metrics including safety, quality, and cost, supporting the launch of new products, managing change, and driving continuous improvement using TPM methodology. Our plant operates 24/7 with a team of 160 hourly associates and 15 salaried employees. The plant produces Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce and other food products. The Plant Manager reports to the Director of Manufacturing and works with the Operations Services group to deliver the results.

Key attributes of success in the role will include rapid improvement in safety results and culture, employee engagement and empowerment, and driving productivity gains through efficiency improvements, simplification efforts and supply chain synchronization. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and be clear and decisive on key priorities to drive improvements that lead to overall plant and company success.

This role leads and owns all functions at the site, including Manufacturing, Distribution, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Finance, and Training. The Plant Manager is responsible for recruiting and leading the workforce to an empowered state, and for utilizing tools and leveraging resources available to achieve world class results. The Plant manager also actively participates in Division Operations teams, Technical Development teams, and strategic projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities

+ Developing strategies and establishing priorities for self and direct reports.

+ Drive, model, champion and support desired plant culture, vision, team-based structure, and skill-based pay for performance system.

+ Analyze, decide and communicate priority actions to drive improvement in key focus areas of safety, plant culture and productivity.

+ Monitoring direct reports’ performance and the performance of their teams, leveraging recognition programs and supporting the positive progressive discipline process for associates.

+ Developing direct reports and self.

+ Must be a seasoned leader with a track record of success in a manufacturing environment including driving and nurturing an empowered, high performance culture, developing people (exempt and non-exempt), driving world class safety performance and programs, managing change, continuous improvement, and reducing operating costs.

+ Demonstrated excellent presentation, organizational, analytical, written communication, and verbal/nonverbal communication skills.

+ Exceptional Leadership ability with high EQ and demonstrated success in interpersonal skills and relationship building.

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively and proactively interact and communicate with all levels of the organization, fostering an environment of trust, open communication and ownership.

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft products and mainframe business applications.

+ Willing/able to be flexible and work off-shift work and travel as needed.

+ Must have demonstrated ability to effectively plan and manage multiple priorities.

+ Excel in leading managers, teams and individuals through analytical problem solving, prioritizing issues and opportunities.

+ Demonstrated skills in motivating and developing managers, teams and individuals through utilization of effective individual development plans, training, empowerment in challenging opportunities, trust, and rewards and recognition.

+ Proven track record in translating corporate strategic initiatives into operational requirements and in providing leadership to implement sustainable processes that deliver superior results.

+ Approaches safety as a core value. Experience in operational budget development and management. Financial acumen.

+ Demonstrated experience and appreciation for an Inverted Pyramid approach to supporting an organization

+ The Wheeling Hidden Valley plant is 24/7 with roughly 160 hourly associates, 15 salaried and an operating budget of $32M/yr. The plant typically spends $25M in capital improvements per year (exclusive of large projects). For FY20 the plant is scheduled to run 28 million stat cases.

+ This role is an active member of the Specialty Division Operating Team (SDOT) and the Food network operations team.

Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required

+ 10 Years of manufacturing experience in all operational functions of manufacturing

+ 7 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

+ Position will require the candidate to be in manufacturing environment with rotating equipment, elevated surfaces, temperature variations etc.

+ Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Technology or Business

+ Demonstrated experience delivering results as a Site Manager with total site responsibilities.

+ Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, communication and teambuilding skills

+ Demonstrated ability to understand manufacturing, business processes and systems

+ Strong leadership in a TPM/Continuous Improvement environment.

+ Interpersonal skills to effectively lead and influence and do work across organizational boundaries including corporate resources, contractors and Plant associates.

+ Ability to plan and execute multiple projects/activities

+ Safety leadership experience — particularly in the process industry is preferred.

+ Flexibility for travel up to 20%.

+ Familiarity with SAP a plus.
