Job Description

Position Summary

Loan Servicing Specialists service the bank’s loan portfolio and follow established lending policies and procedures. Development in this role is progressive and begins with Loan Servicing Specialist I, which involves mastering loan input and routine loan maintenance. The Loan Servicing Specialist II role expands to also include escrow processing and account reconciliation. All Heartland Bank Loan Servicing Specialists are multi-functional, customer-oriented individuals who rely on instructions and pre-established procedures to perform the functions of this job. They work under the immediate supervision of a Loan Servicing Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions

Loan Servicing Specialist I

  • Input data entry of new loan bookings, loan disbursing, loan file maintenance, and servicing of all loan types on the Bank’s core system
  • Review data input for accuracy and completeness
  • Process daily functions of all loan records including loan payments, construction draws, advances, participation payments and payoff requests
  • Analyze adjustable rate mortgages for payment adjustments and interest rate changes
  • Answer incoming customer calls with enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Adhere to Bank policies and procedures as well as industry regulations

Loan Servicing Specialist II

  • Input data entry of new loan bookings, loan disbursing, loan file maintenance, and servicing of all loan types on the Bank’s core system
  • Review data input for accuracy and completeness
  • Process daily functions of all loan records including loan payments, construction draws, advances, participation payments and payoff requests
  • Reconcile loan accounts and general ledger accounts in a timely manner
  • Analyze adjustable rate mortgages for payment adjustments and interest rate changes
  • Prepare and assemble data for distribution of daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Answer incoming customer calls with enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Adhere to Bank policies and procedures as well as industry regulations

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Retail Banking
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Loan Servicing
