Job Description

The Role: The IT Infrastructure team is looking for a contract Network Engineer. This role requires a proven track record of supporting Cisco networks in an enterprise environment. A solid understanding of networking fundamentals and routing protocols is required. The ideal candidate would be CCNP certified with very strong experience in routing and switching. Experience in implementation of a layer-2 extension networking would be a significant plus. This position is based in our clients Chicago office. Contract duration is initially 6 months and likely will be extended thereafter. Responsibilities + Manage and maintain the operational integrity of our client’s Security, Global voice, and data networks. + Participate in the planning, development, and delivery of Network related projects. + Provide out of hours technical support as required. + Provide new and updated documentation and knowledge articles. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required. + At least five years of Cisco IOS and NX-OS administration experience with a proven track record in medium to large size network supporting at least 500+ (virtual or physical) servers. + At least five years of experience in Cisco routing and switching technology. + Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, and routing protocols, QoS, VoIP, BGP, and EIGRP. + Experience with WAN implementation and optimization technology, security standards and best practices, and network trouble shooting, packet captures, and analysis. + Experience with the following is a significant plus:, administration in VMware virtualized environments (particularly VMware View), and Microsoft technologies (Windows networking, AD, Exchange). + ITIL foundation certification is also preferred + Excellent teamwork and organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to handle and lead multiple tasks. + Strong time management skills and the ability to balance high quality work standards against time constraints. + Excellent communication and documentation skills.
