Job Description

Tax Accountant, Business Tax Advisory (Quantitative Services) Manager (Multiple Positions), Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, Chicago, IL.

Provide tax guidance and planning for long-term assets, as well as legislative insights into tax policy. Translate accounting and auditing challenges into effective tax strategies. Prepare effective approaches to clients’ tax needs through automatic and non-automatic accounting method changes. Develop and execute authoritative strategic plans in areas related to federal income taxation. Review and work on a variety of tax and accounting issues, including R&D Credits, Meals & Entertainment, Sec.199, Revenue & Expense Recognition, Sec.174, Cost Segregation, Capitalization & Cost Recovery, Transaction Costs, Lobbying Expense Analysis and Inventory/UNICAP. Communicate and influence intelligent decision making in complex tax areas. Required to obtain a CPA, JD or other alternate certifications based on approval from practice leadership within one year from hire date.

Manage and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Law, Business, Management, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor’s, progressive related work experience in federal income taxation; OR a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Law, Business, Management, or a related field, and 4 years of related work experience in federal income taxation.

Must have 4 years of experience with a mid-size/regional to large sized/national public accounting firm or law firm

Must have 4 years of experience in MS Excel, MS Access, and data mining tools

Must have 4 years of experience with 2 of the following: FDII, BEAT, GILTI Planning, R&D Credits, Meals & Entertainment, Sec.199, Revenue & Expense Recognition, Sec.174, Cost Segregation, Capitalization & Cost Recovery, Transaction Costs, Lobbying Expense Analysis and Inventory/UNICAP.

Must have 2 years of experience guiding junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals.

Must have 2 years of experience with IRS tax controversy and/or statistical sampling

Must have 2 years of experience researching tax trends, developments, and technical authorities and applying them to clients’ tax situations.
