Full Time Exempt Position

The HR Generalist will partner with and report to the Regional HR Manager. This position will provide HR support for various levels of management and colleagues within the Decatur Complex locations. The position will support key plant initiatives through recruiting and retention efforts, coordination of employee engagement and employee relations efforts, employee development and training initiatives, policy administration and affirmative action efforts alongside location HR representatives. You will foster innovative ideas and a dream to explore new possibilities.

Position Responsibilities:

+ Create and maintain successful working relationships with plant leadership and the union in order to influence and provide effective HR processes, advice and support

+ Demonstrate a sound dedication to our Core Values while promoting throughout all levels of the organization

+ Actively champion and promote all safety related policies and programs to ensure colleague engagement and dedication to the benefits of working safe

+ Prepare position descriptions, track employment requisitions, direct all aspects of pre-employment screening process and conduct new hire orientation if needed

+ Participate in the selection and hiring process. Coordinate searches, recruit prospective colleagues, screen candidates, interview applicants and offer employment

+ Partner to nurture a workforce planning strategy and knowledge transfer process to build current and future bench strength, supporting organizational planning

+ Increase understanding and consistent application of policies, procedures, and practices through training, mentoring, one-on-one communication and policy interpretation

+ Handle the grievance process

+ Provide feedback, mentorship and support for Performance Excellence and other development programs

+ Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information

Position Requirements:

+ BA/BS in Business, Human Resources or related field is required

+ A minimum of three years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment, union experience preferred

+ Demonstrable ability to successfully resolve employee relations issues while maintaining positive employee relations

+ Solid knowledge of state and federal employment laws

+ Strong social, written and verbal communication skills are critical

+ Successfully relates to and works with a diverse workforce in a variety of positions including senior leaders, location leaders and hourly colleagues

+ Build trust, gain support and influence others

+ Validated ability to work independently, takes initiative and gets results

+ Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Office
