We are currently seeking a Supplier Development Manager to join our staff at our world headquarters in Lisle.

Position provides a critical role in the sourcing selection and development of suppliers for new Navistar products.

  • Assesses supplier capabilities, identifying actions to ensure Supplier Capability and Readiness for new product launches.
  • Develops and implements actions with suppliers to address capability/capacity issues.
  • Provides technical support to ensure supplier readiness and capability.
  • Specific areas include: Manufacturing Capability, Capacity Verification, Operational Performance, Lean Methods assessment.
  • Lead continuous improvement actions at Major Suppliers, to improve cost, quality and delivery performance.
  • Identifies constraints/waste in the Value Stream, and develops cross functional solutions to address, working with internal functions (operations, logistics, quality, etc.) and the suppliers.
  • Lead/participate in efforts to break capacity constraints/solve systemic issues, and address critical issues impacting launch or production.
  • Travel to suppliers and manufacturing facilities as required.

Position Purpose

Performs supply chain and logistics functions, such as material procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution. Creates integrated processes among internal functions (e.g., operations, purchasing and logistics) and outside suppliers. Responsibilities are within the Supply Chain Management function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience
  • 1 year lead experience


  • Master’s degree and at least 6 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience
  • 1 year lead experience


  • At least 10 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience
  • 1 year lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
