Job Description

The Records Department of Arnold & Porter has a Records Center Clerk opening in the Chicago Office. The Records Center Clerk is responsible for all activities related to the creation, maintenance and disposition of the Firm’s client files.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
?Accessing, compiling, gathering and issuing requested files and information.
?Updating the Firm’s records management system with the current location of client files.
?Receiving, storing, maintaining and securing files as well as preparing files for transfer to off-site storage in accordance with established procedures.
?Researching and referencing documents for special projects upon request.
?Ensuring available shelving space throughout department and/or office.
?Preparing and scanning all incoming client files before material is shelved or sent off-site.
?Assisting with the transfer of client files outside the Firm with the appropriate authorization.
?Coordinating with other records areas to maintain standardized system procedures, practices and policies.
?Following up on files signed out to users as needed.
?Receiving and filing incoming materials for established client files.

?A minimum of one year of work experience in an office environment.
?Prior records experience in a law firm preferred.
?Excellent grammar, writing and spelling skills.
?Ability to organize, classify and describe materials .
?Ability to work independently.
?Ability to demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information.
?Strong client service skills.
?Ability to multitask.
?Experience with clerical and filing tasks.
?Effective oral and written communication skills.
?Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
?Flexibility to work additional hours as necessary.
