Apex Systems has an exciting new position in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago!
This position is within the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) area of a diverse 5,000 + employee company. The focus of this position would be to support Hazard Communication, specifically providing support to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) author. There would be additional opportunities to learn about and provide support to our HSE team of 5 located throughout the US. Haz Comm/Safety experience would be beneficial. Would be willing to train the right technical, accurate, detail-oriented individual with a science background.
Main Job Duties:
Maintain multiple spreadsheets daily which include: chemical composition data for formulations, input and maintain toxicology data for individual chemicals as provided on supplier SDSs.
Perform service requests to Sphera database on completed GHS compliant SDS’s and updated supplier/vendor SDS’s.
Manage and maintain online database of Safety Data Sheets for the company, including the public access point.
Occasionally supply customer service, other locations, and sometimes customers with the most current SDS (MSDS, if no SDS available) for company products.
Maintain and update all current and open requests in for MSDS -> SDS conversions for all company manufactured products.
Create and manage workflow to different departments for request forms and drafts of SDS’s.
Contact suppliers, when necessary, to obtain current/updated raw material and turnkey products SDS’s to help with authoring our GHS compliant SDS’s.
Coordinate/run training of employees on how to use the SiteHawk database at a General User, as well as a Super User level.
Manage corporate level user access to the Sphera database.
Contact brand managers occasionally to determine what products have been discontinued and update Sphera with that information.
Make minor revisions to SDSs, such as updating SKU numbers or updating material names.
Generate translations of our product SDSs into French and Spanish based on customer needs.
