Job Description

RHP is an environmental consulting firm with a focus on the fields of Industrial Hygiene, Exposure Science, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Built Environment, Risk Management, Dose Estimation & Analysis, and Exposure Simulation Testing. Our highly trained and sophisticated team of professionals work together seamlessly on small and large projects. Our roster includes a combination of 20 certified industrial hygienists, public health scientists, risk assessors, certified safety professionals, field staff, an engineer, an anthropologist, an economist, certified paralegals, and support staff with headquarters in Chicago, IL. We are seeking a full-time Associate to join our Chicago office as an entry-level Environmental Health Scientist. Many on our team have worked together for decades and share a strong bond and work ethic that drives our success. Job Responsibilities:

+ Primary job responsibilities which include:

+ Conducting pre-demolition and pre-renovation site inspections for asbestos-containing building materials at residential and small commercial facilities throughout the greater Chicago metropolitan area (will train, 6-month training period required for State licensing)

+ Analyzing bulk material building samples for asbestos by Polarized Light Microscopy (will train).

+ Analyzing air samples for asbestos by Phase Contrast Microscopy (will train).

+ Delivering/transporting material samples to Chicago area laboratories.

+ Drafting asbestos inspection reports for quick client delivery.

+ Responding swiftly to client requests for inspections (routinely same day).

+ Secondary job responsibilities may occasionally include:

+ Collecting water, air, and soil samples.

+ Conducting basic industrial hygiene field projects under the direction of a Senior Associate or Manager.

+ Maintaining field sampling equipment.

+ Participating in local and national professional societies and conferences to build RHP’s professional image and expand your personal network of contacts for business development.

Required Skills/Experience:

This is an entry level position for college graduates. Do not apply if you do not have the following. The candidate must have the following experience/skills:

+ Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Sciences or related scientific field with a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics, physics, and math.

+ Valid driver?s license and reliable vehicle.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

+ The right candidate may also have the following:

+ Prior environmental consulting work or internship experience.

+ Post-graduate degree in environmental science, industrial hygiene, or public health (MS, MPH)

+ Strong technical report writing skills

+ Excellent project management skills

+ The ability to provide excellent service to clients while working on multiple projects

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

+ A Current/Valid Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Asbestos Building Inspector License (or ability to apply for license reciprocity from a neighboring state)

+ Lead, mold, or radon licensing in IL or other states.

+ Industrial hygiene experience; desire to pursue CIH credential.

+ Computer competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Work hours:

Primarily Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week, though occasional weekend hours may be required based upon client/project demands. Timing of daily office hours are flexible with the office typically open from 6 a.m. ? 6 p.m.
