key responsibilities of the role include:
Under general supervision (but works independently most of the time) responsible for facilitating clients’ lending of securities custodied at Northern Trust at the direction of external lending agents.
Settling of equity and fixed income lending activity across global markets at the direction of the client’s lending agent.
Communicating start-of-day activity to the lending agent.
Reconciling end-of-day cash and security positions, and communicating them to the lending agent.
Monitoring intraday activity for any trades that did not settle in the market.
Determining the cause of any trades that did not settle in the market and manually delivering those securities, if required.
Monitoring various exception reports and resolving any discrepancies.
Ensuring all daily deadlines are met.
Identifying excessive operational risk and/or control problems at an early stage.
Working cross-functionally with other staff to create highly efficient operational processes that avoid control and quality deficiencies and associated monetary losses.
Establishing, building, & maintaining effective working relationships with key partners internal and external to the organization.

The successful candidate will benefit from having:
Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Accounting or a similar field preferred).
3 or more years of related business experience, preferably in financial industry operations.
Candidate must be a strong team player and be highly self-motivated.
Professional with proven business experience and a focus on proactive activities within the capital markets securities servicing group.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook.
Preferred candidate will have knowledge of the firm and the financial services industry, specifically in an operational setting.
