Job Description:

The principal responsibility of this Data Scientist position is tolearn and contribute to projects as part of the Large Power System EngineeringAnalytics team, focused on developing large data set driven engine failuredetection algorithms\. One is expected to gain an understanding ofCaterpillar’s business, products, data from machines and engines, systems andprocedures; to learn and develop skills which result from the practical applicationof analytical knowledge; and to aid a project team or others in the work group\.Projects work results will affect existing Caterpillar engine product or bedeployed in Caterpillar dealer and/or customer facing subscription enginemonitoring services\. Key areas of responsibility encountered in this rolemay include any or all of the following: working with engine experts todetermine failure signatures, codifying failure signatures, verifying workresults and quality, locating and obtaining data from various internal andexternal sources; collecting requirements; applying associated digitaltechnologies; communicating with internal customers, team members, and stakeholders; answering routine requests for information/analysis; and providingsupport to the teams on which he or she serves\. Work is closely directed by aproject team leader and supervisor, with regular reviews and updates\.

+ Design,develop, and maintain performance and scalable analytical solutions

+ Identify,design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual andrepeatable processes, optimizing data delivery and usage, maintaining reusableapproaches for greater scalability

+ Performvalidation of models and statistical techniques of solutions

+ Createsolutions and methods to monitor systems and solutions

+ Engagedirectly with business partners to participate in design and development ofsolutions per requirements

+ Engageand actively seek industry perspectives

+ Employeeis also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillarmanagement

Qualifications

Job Duties:

Basic Qualifications:

+ BS Mechanical, Electrical, or SimilarEngineeringDegree

+ Must have a minimum of two completed projects\(academic or industry\) using Python

+ Understandingof SQL, ETL design, and data modeling techniques

+ GPAof a 3\.0 on a 4\.0 scale

+ Experiencein approved enterprise data platform or qualified to be trained on the approvedenterprise data platform \(AWS\)
