The Accelerator Development Group within the Physics Division of Argonne National Laboratory has an opening for an Accelerator Development Specialist\. The candidate will be a scientist or engineer capable of designing and building electrical and mechanical systems to help carry out ongoing and new accelerator projects bringing technical knowledge and skills to finish tasks that are varied and complex\. Execute innovative, high\-quality infrastructure and hardware design and fabrications, particularly in support of RF superconducting device development, and in support of major DOE upgrades\.Work with limited supervision\.Perform tasks that are typically given in terms of anticipated results and objectives\. Exercise considerable technical discretion in addition to scheduling and coordinating daily tasks\. Frequently interact with internal and external contacts over project details\.

+ Hands\-on experience and strong
+ interest in performing hands\-on work with high\-value mechanical, electrical andfluid process systems\.
+ Strong self\-motivation, desire and skill to perform a wide variety ofhands\-on and sometimes physically demanding laboratory work\.
+ Creativity in devising and implementing solutions to new and complextechnical problems\.
+ Excellent technical judgement based on the capability to recognize aproblem and then apply sound judgement to devise solutions\.
+ The capability to work effectively on technical problems in a fast\-paced,demanding, and oftentimes, deadline driven environment\.
+ Knowledge of materials, particularly metals such as steel, aluminum andstainless steel and some experience with metal fabrication techniques such asmachining, rolling, forming, brazing and welding\.
+ Good communication skills and the desire and ability to discuss technicalideas closely with colleagues

RD1 Level: Bachelor’s and 0years or Master’s and 0 years

RD2 Level: Bachelor’s and 5\+ years or Master’s and 3\+ years, or Doctorate

and 0 years
