The Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division at Argonne National Laboratory solicits applicants to fill a postdoctoral position in the Separation Science Group\. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in advancing a new project to apply state\-of\-the\-art machine learning techniques to cutting\-edge research in chemical separations\. The specific project seeks to advance the basic understanding of the critical chemical drivers underpinning chemical demixing in low\-energy processes such as liquid\-liquid extraction and adsorbant or membrane technologies\. The new hire will work as an integral member of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that includes separations chemists and theorists, as well as math, computational, and data scientists, wherein they will be expected to contribute expertize in experiment design and sample characterization\. The latter can include a variety of analytical techniques such as compositional analyses, NMR, IR/Raman, and dynamic light scattering\. Also an opportunity exists to participate in synchrotron\-based structural characterization experiments including spectroscopy \(XANES, EXAFS\) and scattering \(SAXS, WAXS, HEXS\) studies\.
