Job Summary:

Responsible for providing advanced accounting and financial support to the Walgreen Benefit Fund (WBF) and the Fund’s Investment Committee.

Job Responsibilities:

+ Provides financial support to the Walgreen Benefit Fund (WBF). Prepares reports, financial documents and materials for Investment Committee meetings and Annual Meetings. Attends Investment Committee meetings, when necessary.

+ Ensures the proper implementation of Company accounting policies and procedures, including SOX.

+ Ensures general accounting entries are prepared according to Company policies and procedures. Reviews and verifies journal entries for accuracy and prepares account reconciliations. Prepares and analyzes various accounting statements, including financial reports and records. Prepares reports in support of internal and external audits.

+ Prepares all annual financial forms. Gathers all data, prepare financial reports. Coordinates and works with internal and external auditors reviewing WBF information.

+ Ensures fund is solvent by continually monitoring money market account and selling stock with management authorization, as needed, to fulfill financial commitments.

+ Performs financial transactions to move funds from money market fund to checking account with authorization from WBF Treasurer/Secretary or management. Reconciles monthly statements for checking account. Analyzes money market statement and prepares monthly income entries and statements.

+ Tracks balance of the Walgreens team member contributions and follows up with Accounts Payable on a quarterly basis to verify ACH is done to send quarterly contributions to money market account.

+ Partners with WBF Board of Directors to develop new ideas for WBF recipients receiving funds via debit card.

+ Recommends process improvements and develops action plans. Develops and documents procedures for new or updated processes. Recommends changes or enhancements to ensure “best practice” policies and procedures to gain synergies.

External Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of professional accounting experience.

+ Knowledge of financial accounting, federal, state, and local regulations.

+ Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

+ Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).

+ Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).

+ Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
