The Curriculum Studies Program in the Department of Leadership, Language and Curriculum at DePaul University’s College of Education seeks to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Curriculum Studies (CS) to teach in CS master’s and doctoral programs. The appointment will begin August 2020.
Responsibilities include teaching introductory and advanced master’s and doctoral level courses, assistance developing and support for departmental and programmatic initiatives, and student advising, particularly advising doctoral students with dissertation development and serving on dissertation committees.
Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in curriculum studies, curriculum and instruction, educational studies, educational foundations, or related field. Desirable candidates will have demonstrated scholarly productivity in CS and a promising trajectory for future work in the field, a record of outreach to school and community partners, experience developing and supporting new curricular programs and initiatives, as well as professional and scholarly experience working with diverse populations.
The ideal candidate should have a record of strong teaching at the university level, a strong background in curriculum studies in order to teach courses such as: curriculum, school, and community relations; curriculum assessment; history of curriculum; the study of teachers and teaching; and curriculum design. In addition, the ideal candidate should possess a pedagogical stance that demonstrates a commitment to DePaul College of Education’s core values such addressing issues of diversity and difference, equity, power, and privilege, and the increasingly globalized context of education.
Preferred qualifications and experience in PK-12 schools as well as some background in Educational Leadership.
