Position Description:

The Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne is seeking postdoctoral candidates to address computer and computational science challenges associated with advancing the frontier of quantum computation\. Postdoctoral appointees will build, research, and test aspects of the quantum software stack and related enabling technologies\.

The MCS Division at Argonne National Laboratory is a leader in the design of numerical algorithms, development of software tools and technology, and simulation of applications of interest to the U\.S\. Department of Energy\. Postdoctoral appointees will participate in a collegial and stimulating environment, including access to multidisciplinary collaborations, world\-class quantum simulation technologies, a 30\-mile quantum teleportation network being developed in the Chicago area, and the US’s first exascale supercomputer\. Argonne is a founding member of the Chicago Quantum Exchange; more information on quantum computing at Argonne is available at: https://www\.anl\.gov/mcs/quantum\-computing \.

An expected/recent doctoral degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or computational engineering/science, or related fields\. Knowledge of computing and experience in one or more of the following areas:

Large\-scale code development in C, C\\, Python or Java;

Compilation, circuit optimization, or verification of classical or quantum programs;

Development, analysis, or optimization of quantum algorithms;

High\-performance computing or scientific computing;

Coding theory, error correction, or fault\-tolerant computing;

Mathematical optimization or machine learning\.
