Job Description

Supports food services by serving food, washing dishes and pots and pans, and cleaning department equipment and facilities.
Principal Duties, Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions:
Serves food by utilizing appropriate service methods for timeliness, safe handling and holding, designated portion control and appealing appearance including utilizing garnish when appropriate
Transports food trucks, late trays to designated areas, promptly utilizing safe food handling and established infection control processes
Stores or disposes of food remaining after each meal service by choosing the appropriate method of storage for foods, following safe food storage and labeling procedures,.
Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area by utilizing designated cleaning procedures and cleaning chemicals, completing and documenting daily and rotating cleaning assignments, and by transporting trash to designated areas
Cleans and sanitizes dishes, pots and pans and patient tray trucks utilizing designated procedures and chemicals, maintaining washing equipment at proper temperatures, and restocking kitchen and cafeteria with clean dishes, flatware, pans and utensils
Maintains storage areas by shelving stock in designated areas, by labeling and rotating foods and by maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the coolers, freezers and storeroom
Contributes to maintaining costs within the budget by utilizing equipment and supply resources as directed, documenting food and service activities and by ringing up cafeteria sales, collecting cash and making change accurately
Participates in training of department staff by demonstrating the job according to established job routines and department procedures, answering questions and creating a friendly environment and by completing the job coaching forms
Identifies opportunities for department improvement by evaluating food service and work processes, participating in department test trays and data collection and by making recommendations and implementing changes to meet department goals
Participates in department work groups, unit council, CQI Plus team and daily PowWow by attending meetings, being punctual, listening and offering content and following through on actions decided by or communicated in the meeting.
