Under close supervision assist with the operation of accelerator systems\. Assist in diagnosing and fixing simple problems affecting accelerator performance\. Maintain on\-shift logs documenting performance and unusual behavior of equipment\. Maintain knowledge and awareness of operating conditions, procedures, and policies\.
+ Must have a high school diploma\.
+ Some experience in building/operating equipment, or computer software/hardware experience is desired but not required\.
+ Some understanding of, or ability to acquire understanding of, basic physical principles underlying operation of particle accelerators is required\.
+ Must have demonstrated computer literacy and be able to start using accelerator control system in a matter of 4 to 8 weeks\.
+ Some working knowledge of the design and operation of one of the major accelerator subsystems or direct experience in the operation of accelerators is desirable, but not required\.
+ Good communication skills, initiative, and motivation to learn are highly desirable\.
+ Some understanding of and experience with electrical and mechanical systems is desirable but not required\.
+ Typing proficiency desired\.
+ It is expected that in 6\-7 months the operator will become fully qualified on the linear accelerator\.
+ Rotating shifts required in support of 24/7 operation\.
+ Some extended hours may be required to meet facility schedule and programmatic requirements\.
