Job Description:

The Electronic Design Engineering Manager is responsible for leading approximately 100 electrical design engineers with locations in six different cities. The ideal candidate will be an experienced functional manager, have a strong design background, and a proven history of cross site / cross functional project management.

The Electronic Design Department is responsible for:

+ Integrated Project Team Leadership

+ Sub-System Design of Electronics

+ Test System Design

+ Cable Design

+ Technical Support to Integration & Test Teams

Key responsibilities include:

+ Establishment & tracking of department metrics

+ Continuous improvement of engineering processes

+ Harmonizing engineering processes across organization

+ Building strong relationships with other engineering managers and program leadership

+ Effectively communicate and champion enterprise directives

+ Accountable for performance of Electronic Design Engineering department

+ Drive engineering productivity performance improvements including establishment and measurement of performance metrics

+ Implement root cause corrective action for design escapes

+ Maintain appropriate level of qualified staff by working with recruiting, developing training plans, talent development, employee engagement, and employee retention

+ Set objective performance goals for self and team

+ Effectively review and deliver team performance reviews

+ Proactively collaborate with other Engineering Managers to support business demands

+ Develop collaborative relationship with program leadership team

+ Hold weekly one on one meetings with direct staff to build relationships and provide feedback and coaching

+ Perform risk assessments on programs

+ Support pursuits and proposals including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates as needed

+ Provide technical evaluation and oversight of program execution

+ Lead technical issue resolution teams when required

+ Lead and participate on Technical Independent Review Teams

+ Manage department budgets and identify required department training

+ 15% to 25% travel will be required to effectively manage department located in 6 different cities across the US.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 12+ years of relevant experience, OR, 10+ years relevant experience with a Master’s degree

+ Electronics Design Experience

+ Functional Management Experience

+ Project Management Experience (Technical, Cost, & Schedule)

Preferred Additional Skills:

+ Active TS/SCI clearance

+ Experience working with Space Borne, Aerospace, or Military Electronic Systems

+ Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering

+ Demonstrated ability to deliver and sustain measurable results

+ Proactively seek feedback and desire to continually improve

+ Exemplary planning and time management skills

+ Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrable collaboration

+ Ability to articulate key message summaries to business executives

+ Able to self-start and solve problems quickly

+ Good organizational skills

+ High expectations for sustained excellence for self and team members

+ Ability to learn new skills, meet deadlines, embrace new technologies, and follow process

+ High energy and proactive ability to manage in a dynamic environment

+ Excellent communication, written and verbal skills
