Your Role and Responsibilities


Must be able to travel weekly to work on-site in Frankfort, Kentucky**

The successful candidate must have solid data modeling and business analyst experience and must demonstrate an affinity for working with others to create successful Enterprise Data Warehouse (DW) and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. He/She must be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, and have experience working with business areas to translate their business data needs and data questions into usable IT Solutions. He/she must have a solid background in Data Analysis and Data Modeling as well as on the job experience as a data modeler. This position provides the opportunity to be involved in new and/or existing BI and DW solutions and to work with many different business areas within the company. The candidate will participate in all phases of the DW/BI development life cycle and will independently and collaboratively write project/enhancement requirements and perform data modeling tasks. He/She will coordinate with technical DW/BI development staff through design, development and implementation.

Position Overview:

+ The Data Modeler will design data models following industry best practices, develop strategies for integration of data from multiple data sources / data warehouses, establish data models and standards that facilitate data integration of large and diverse data stores, and evaluate data sources, assess quality and determine integration approaches.

+ Demonstrates experience in a variety of the data warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May provide consultation on projects and works collaboratively with the Data Architect. Has the ability to design comprehensive and creative solutions to complex and diverse business requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Conducts requirements gathering and design sessions with stakeholders.

+ Works with analysts, operations teams etc. to establish clearly define business requirements that follow a business process model.

+ Works with data suppliers to establish input and interface specifications.

+ Works data consumers to establish requirements, target and interface specifications.

+ Performs data analysis of source system and target system data.

+ Works with stakeholders to determine data quality standards, management of bad data, reposting etc.

+ Designs and manages data models in data modeling product/tool.

+ Develops Source to Target Mappings from data models as data integration (ETL) specifications.

+ Provides and maintains professional documentation of data architecture.

+ Creates conceptual, logical and physical models for healthcare data warehouse implementations.

+ Determines and develop third normal form, dimensional, and other models that adhere to data warehouse best practices.

+ Designs time variant models that support both point in time (historical) and current state analysis.

+ Generates DDL from model for appropriate target (RDBMS (Oracle, Teradata), big data etc.).

Successful Candidates will possess the following:

+ Medicaid, MMIS or related experience with a state agency

+ Demonstrated experience directing multi-discipline technical teams producing Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) solutions

+ Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with technical teams, delivery managers, project management, client management and customer stakeholders

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

+ 3+ yrs exp as data modeler for multi-terabyte healthcare DW projects

+ 3+ yrs exp with ERwin Enterprise Data Modeler Suite or ER Studio or equivalent

+ 3+ yrs exp in logical data modeling – relational & dimensional, big data

+ Understanding of industry best practices in DW and big data design and development

+ Experience with one or more DW approaches: Data Lake or Data Vault

+ Experience with developing in accordance to Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid SDLC methodology

+ Good communication and interpersonal skills when collaborating with developers, analysts, and business staff

+ Ability to express and present complex technical information in a user-friendly language and style one-on-one and in small group settings which include the executive level

+ Experience in enterprise level database management systems, such as Oracle or DB2

+ SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries
