Job Description
  • ROLE SUMMARY

The analyst will primarily be responsible for laboratory activities (e.g. analytical method development and validation) for assigned projects including but not limited to developing timelines and work plans. This position normally reports to a group leader or more senior analyst. The incumbent will support analytical development and transfer activities for assigned projects, generating developmental and submissable data. Investigates method performance, reliability and improvement issues, and evaluates proposed changes to compendial or in-house methods. This individual also assists with preparing and reviewing technical documents, including validation protocols and reports, analytical test procedures and technical reports.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs analytical method development, and executes method validations and method transfers. Should be able to troubleshoot and independently setup HPLC, GC instruments to run test methods. Must be able to efficiently operate general lab equipment such as spectrophotometer, balances, pH meter, pipettes, etc.
Provides formulation support in developing new products.
Possesses knowledge of approved SOPs, compendia, and other regulatory guidance’s.
Conducts investigations in the areas of method performance and reliability and evaluates proposed changes to compendia or developed methods.
Assists in performing laboratory investigations.
Ensures that all laboratory notebooks and documents are complete and in compliance with cGMP.
Assists in the preparation of analytical test procedures, documents and change controls.
For routine tasks, works independently, and the primary job functions requires exercising some independent judgment. Consults with supervisor and/or subject matter experts for more complex tasks.
Provides the necessary documentation for regulatory submissions as required
Writes protocols or propose specifications based on USP, ICH or other compendial or regulatory requirements.
Writes analytical or other AR&D reports using clear and correct language and terminology.
Grasps a general understanding of the breadth and depth of drug development and contributes to scientific discussions during project team meetings.
Understands and complies with GMP/GLP/GSP

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in the physical or biological sciences with 3+ years experience. Experience in a cGMP laboratory is a plus.
Must have strong experience in chromatography (eg, HPLC with Empower data acquisition software)
Pharmaceutical experience preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills and the use of MS Office (Word, Excel) are required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

This position involves frequent work within an analytical testing lab, in the presence of chemicals, with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Occasional work within a cytotoxic analytical lab in the presence of potent and cytotoxic compounds is required (with appropriate PPE).
