Job Description
The scope of emergency nursing practice involves the assessment, analysis, outcome identification, planning and implementation of interventions. They also must evaluate human responses to perceived actual or potential, sudden or urgent, physical or psychosocial problems that are primarily episodic or acute and which may occur in a variety of settings. They may require minimal care to life support measures; patient family, and significant other education; appropriate referral and discharge planning; and knowledge of legal implications. Principal Duties, Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions

Effectively completes triage assessment utilizing the ESI triage system, establishes patient priorities, and completes assessments on all patients assigned.
Utilizes critical judgment to analyze patient assessment data, coordinates patient care as appropriate.
Implements individualized nursing interventions for each patient assigned.
Evaluates nursing care and modifies interventions based on the patient’s response.
Accurately documents all nursing care provided and adheres to nursing standards.
Consistently and accurately reviews and implements physicians orders.
Utilizes the five rights and the two patient identifiers when administering medications. Performs medication reconciliation for each patient. Completes documentation without deficiency.
Ensures a smooth and efficient flow of patients. Actively goes to waiting room and receives new patients without being prompted. During high volume handles additional patient assignments.
Accurately follows procedures for facility charging and patient classification.
Educates patients and families based on assessed needs, documents education provided, and keeps them informed of tests, treatments and any delays.
Completes daily checklist, efficiently maintains room supplies and equipment.
