The Manager of Population Health and Research Analytics will provide managerial support to Research Systems Reporting Specialists as well as other Population Health Analysts serving population health initiatives throughout the institution. The manager will also work to create a portfolio of datasets to be made available to Lurie Children’s researchers and support research and quality improvement efforts of fellows and researchers.

  • Oversees Research Systems Reporting Specialists as well as other population health analysts.
  • Works with Lurie Children’s researchers to refine requirements for research requests.
  • Oversees management and curation of research databases, both publically available and available by request only.
  • Designs, builds and maintains reports using Epic’s Clarity system and data warehouse, Crystal Reports and SQL.
  • Promotes use of data, internal and external, for research among physician researchers in Smith Child Health Research, Outreach and Advocacy, as well as Lurie Children’s fellows and residents
  • Develops dashboards and data visualizations using Microsoft Business Intelligence Tools, Power BI, SharePoint and SSRS.
  • Analyzes and assess institutional research reporting needs.
  • Oversee fiscal administration and report on financial progress to funders as appropriate.
  • Inventories and analyzes existing reports. Coordinates reporting to minimize duplication and reduce inventory.
  • Participates in completing documentation of data structures, data conversions.
  • Helps identify and pursue appropriate grant opportunities.
  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations for Transactions, Security and Confidentiality.
  • Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Master’s degree in public health or related field, Ph.D. preferred.
  • 5 + years of experience with a wide range of research methodologies, statistical procedures, and progressively more complex analytic methodologies.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with complex data systems, either administrative data or data collected for research purposes.
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • SQL/database experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a health care setting strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership capabilities on research projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, especially in interacting with faculty, Department Heads, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong customer-service skills with ability to find and implement creative, compliant solutions to satisfy customer needs.
