Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
In underwriting FP&A, we are focused on stretching our thinking and challenging the status quo by actively identifying and delivering solutions to improve CNA and add value. We are seeking a qualified candidate to support underwriting business partners with financial planning and analysis. As a technical expert, this position performs complex and critical financial analysis, translates analytics into actionable insights and provides strategic alternatives to management. The ability to build relationships across the organization and to exercise latitude in approach and judgment are critical skills to succeed in this role. Additionally, this person will participate in projects and provide advice and direction to less experienced financial analysts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Key responsibilities include annual profitability and production planning and ongoing analysis of results and strategies.
2. Monthly ownership of key dashboards and providing analytics on results for respective business units.
3. Owns the forecasting process of the respective segment and drives continuous improvement and insight into the metrics.
4. As senior-level financial expert independently investigates anomalies and variances in data.
5. Accountable for preparing and presenting interpretations of findings.
6. Interacts and collaborates with other departments to address business issues and meet organizational objectives.
7. Provides insight and guidance as an expert or resource throughout the company.
8. Adopting a continuous improvement mindset.
9. Enhancing our customer service with new and/or better work products.
10. Identifying areas for efficiency gains, recommending alternatives and implementing solutions.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Typically Director or above
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
1. Knowledge of corporate, departmental and industry accounting/finance policies, procedures and principles.
2. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues.
3. Must be results oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
4. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
5. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with accounting/finance and other staff and departments.
6. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems, including processing systems and applications.
7. Prior use or knowledge of Alteryx preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in accounting or finance, or equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum two to four years of related financial analysis experience.
