Sr. Manager, List Brokerage & Data Procurement

Possess a deep knowledge and understanding of the data marketplace: List Management, List Brokerage, Co-Op database providers; with multi-channel knowledge (print and digital) of data application.

Understand the foundational concepts of direct marketing. Be able to consult with a client to understand their marketing goals and objectives and translate these into a meaningful list/data recommendation. Be able to consult and collaborate with other internal SME’s (analytics, processing, database, BI/reporting, channel). Understand the basics principals of data management, marketing analytics and reporting.

The role is a Subject Matter Expert, supporting and developing mail strategies and data recommendations for clients utilizing knowledge of the Consumer and Business list industries. This person may also be responsible to act as the primary liaison between RR Donnelley and the list industry.

  • Lead the relationships and negotiations with list brokers, managers and owners of both Compiled and Response Lists for the B2C and B2B markets. These companies include Direct Media, ALC, Acxiom, Experian, Infogroup, KBM, etc.
  • Possess negotiation skills to obtain the prices and services levels from the list owners providing RRD adequate commission and margin levels.
  • Work with Program Managers and Marketing Strategists to optimize list opportunities with Direct Marketing and Catalog clients.
  • Represent RRD List Brokerage capabilities within the Direct Marketing industry.
  • Lead continuous improvement of List Broker team members and processes to ensure consistency, quality and increased productivity
  • Work with the RRD sales staff to identify and fulfill our client’s list needs. Make appropriate list recommendations while working with sales representatives, Program Managers and clients on prospect ends of circulation strategies.
  • Be knowledgeable of Response list pricing scenarios, such as net and net/net arrangements. Understand merge/purge processing and the reports that are typically supplied to List Managers.
  • Be knowledgeable of “list trades” between amenable list owners and be able to facilitate the exchanges and reconciliation for RRD customers.
  • Continually recommend new list strategies with clients and review list performance and history for optimization of program objectives and goals.
  • Identify, and help sell, adjunct RRD solutions to the list business: data processing, data management, analytics, and reporting.

  • Open minded attitude to continually research and explore new data sources and opportunities
  • Travel as needed.

  • College degree OR 7+ years of direct involvement in the direct marketing list industry (list brokerage / management)
