Job Description


The Medicaid Marketing Lead to oversee our marketing efforts in support of our growing Medicaid business. This role is responsible for the strategy, coordination, execution, and measurement of Medicaid marketing at Humana. The Lead will work cross functionally within and outside the Marketing department to support the state-specific Medicaid teams in their RFPs, implementation and rollout of the marketing in the states where we have contracts.


This role requires deep Medicaid knowledge; not only of the program but also of the audience, state-specific requirements, and successful marketing strategies. We are looking for a self-starter with innovative thinking about the interactions between Humana and the consumer and a practical understanding of how marketing communications and consumer engagement programs can be used to acquire new members and to enable Humana to develop long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with consumers.

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of Medicaid marketing experience and demonstrated success working cross functionally, leading complex marketing programs that are CMS and state-compliant while also driving results. Omni-channel marketing experience is also required.


As the Medicaid Marketing Lead you will:

+ Develop audience-first acquisition and engagement marketing strategies based on current member characteristics, campaign performance, and knowledge gathered from analytics and research.

+ Build strong working relationships with business stakeholders in a matrixed environment, actively participating with line of business leaders to impact the revenue and growth dynamics of Humana’s businesses.

+ Lead a portfolio of Medicaid marketing campaigns by bringing together a cross-functional team of business experts, marketing strategists, data analysts, communication channel owners, and other partners.

+ Use your problem-solving skills, be organized, and show attention to detail while managing multiple high-profile programs.

+ Manage and develop a team of associates.

Role Essentials

+ 5-8 years of Medicaid marketing experience

+ Demonstrated leadership ability

+ Experience standing up a marketing function for a new / growing business unit; a self-starter

+ Strong strategic, critical thinking, and conceptual abilities; ability to lead strategic planning discussions, and turn those into plans and tactics that are executable, measurable, and meet business goals.

+ Excellent planning and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while implementing projects.

+ Experience managing both cross functional/matrix teams and direct reports.

+ Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence others and interact with all levels of the organization.

+ Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related master’s degree desired.

Role Desirables

+ 5-8 years of experience managing a team of direct reports

+ Experience working with clients to deliver solutions that meet their needs

+ Experience in program management and vendor/agency management – ability to coordinate activities, collectively set strategies and monitor progress.

+ Experience in leading change through energizing others, modeling adaptability, and inspiring strong organizational performance through periods of transformation, ambiguity, and complexity.

Additional Information

+ This role reports to the Director of Retail Engagement Marketing within Consumer Group.
