Reporting to the SVP of HR and Learning and OD, the AVP of Employee Relations and HR is responsible for leading the Company’s employee relations and HR compliance function for multiple locations throughout the United States and includes:
+ Researching, developing and executing on employment practices, procedures, policies, communications, and training related to fair and consistent treatment of employees in compliance with federal and state regulations
+ Reviewing and recommending disciplinary actions, conducting complex workplace investigations, acting as liaison between management and employees, and providing risk analysis in employment actions\.
+ Acting as the Company’s representative in employment\-related agency hearings and preparing responses to agency complaints
+ Advising, consulting with and counseling field HR Directors and other senior leaders on relevant human resources management and business matters
+ Training and onboarding new HR Directors and serves as a mentor to respective HR personnel
+ Conducting HR Audit process at respective communities
+ Leads development and revisions of Vi’s company handbooks
+ Takes a leadership role in the Company’s efforts to minimize unemployment and other workplace\-related claims\.
+ Leads Company’s Respect Program and supports other employee programs that contribute to Vi’s continuous goal of being an employer\-of\-choice
Qualifications for this role includes:
+ Superior knowledge of federal and state employment and labor laws, and compliance requirements\.
+ Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills\. Excellent judgment, critical thinking and problem\-solving skills\.
+ Strong managerial and leadership skills including the ability to influence the right behavior in employees who are not direct reports\.
+ Strong presentation, facilitation, and training skills\.
+ Ability to foster effective working relationships among corporate office staff and community leadership\.
Must possess a minimum of 10 years of prior experience in HR leadership role with 5 years experience in managing employee relations issues\. Experience with responding to state/federal agencies such as the EEOC, DOL, etc\. is required\.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related degree is required\. Advanced degree in industrial/employee relations and/or J\.D\. preferred\. SPHR or SHRM\-SCP certification preferred\.
