Position Summary: Associate Advisor

RSM US Wealth Management LLC (RSM) is a federally registered Investment Adviser and a wholly owned subsidiary of RSM US LLP. RSM focuses on working with affluent families, closely-held business owners and company executives. Our RSM US Wealth Management advisors work closely with our tax professionals to provide comprehensive financial planning, asset management and other investment advisory related services to our clients. Associate Advisors play an important role by supporting Wealth Advisors and in serving our clients in a number of ways, as described below.

The Associate Advisor will be part of the Wealth Management practice and will support clients in our Rockford, Illinois office.

Responsibilities:

  • The Associate Advisor will become familiar with various aspects of the wealth management practice including operations, investment management, case development, the client service model and new business acquisition.
  • Serve on the client service team to assist in managing client relationships. Will have direct client contact and will be focused on helping to deliver our consistent client service model to clients.
  • Will be involved in client and prospect meetings as well as networking opportunities.
  • Develop competency with our eMoney financial planning software to assist in the development of financial plans.
  • Responsible for preparing investment (portfolio) analysis and financial related projects as needed.
  • Develop competency in our CRM and manage work flows and related documentation requirements.
  • Responsible for providing support as part of the service team including:

Preparation of financial plans and financial reviews for prospect/client meetings

Assisting in developing and monitoring client investment portfolios based on our investment philosophy, Investment Policy Statement and client target asset allocations

Monitoring and managing a rebalancing process for client portfolios

Mastery of various tools (e.g., Morningstar, eMoney) to research and provide investment portfolio and client related projects

Documenting and communicating client meeting notes and coordinating follow up

  • Facilitates best practice and assists in monitoring and satisfying compliance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Business (Finance preferred)
  • Business experience of 3-5 years in the Wealth Management/Financial Services industry is desirable
  • Experience with eMoneyFinancial Planning software, Microsoft Dynamic CRM, Morningstar, Black Diamond and Schwab Institutional web-based solutions are a plus
  • Ability to be registered as an Investment Adviser Representative – active series 65 registration or willing to obtain along with Illinois Life & Health Insurance License
  • Certified Financial Planner certification or willingness and ability to attain within 3 years

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and assignments
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently in order to see projects through completion
  • Demonstrates advanced Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrates client service skills
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize work
  • Strong ethical and professional standards
  • Flexibility, adaptability and strong team orientation
  • Acceptable compliance record in prior position(s)
  • Some travel will be required
