Job Description

William Charles Construction – Materials Division is looking for a motivated individual to join the team. The position would primarily be testing, sampling and inspecting HMA materials at asphalt plants and job sites. This individual would analyze and test results to ensure compliance with our quality and safety standards.
Job Duties would include:

  • Follow HMA Plant pre-production daily check lists
  • Obtain daily HMA samples from various plant/job locations
  • Run required HMA laboratory tests as quickly as possible using proper QCQA Procedures
  • Communicate throughout the day with Plant Operators and QC Managers
  • Communicate daily with State and Local Officials
  • Maintenance and daily cleaning of the HMA lab
  • Comply with company and rules and regulations to perform duties in safe manner
  • Other duties assigned

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate with others, both written and orally
  • Accurate, well organized, team driven
  • Should be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to travel locally out of the office to visit asphalt plants
  • Able to carry/lift 40-100 lbs. multiple times a day
  • Successful candidate must submit to post offer pre-employment drug/alcohol screen

Desirable Job Qualifications:

  • Experience in HMA Plants and Paving environments
  • Experience with QA/QC program
  • IDOT/WisDOT Certifications for HMA Technician classes
  • Associates Degree in construction based accreditation
  • Additionally IDOT and WisDOT certifications pertaining to HMA Technician duties including Nuclear Density Tester Course must be obtained within the first year of employment.
