Job Description

Position Summary

Concurrently reviews inpatient medical records for proper documentation. Facilitates and obtains appropriate physician documentation by communicating with clinicians and physicians. Documents any clinical conditions or procedures to support the appropriate severity of illness, expected risk of mortality, and complexity of care of the patient. Educates members of the patient care team regarding documentation guidelines, including attending physicians, allied health practitioners, nursing, and case management.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline preferred

Experience

3 Year(s)-Healthcare Experience-Required

Communication skills essential to adapt to preferences and needs of physicians. Ability to research diagnoses and procedures for better understanding to facilitate communication with physician and other healthcare providers. Ability to apply ICD codes, interpret DRG/APR-DRG, and follow coding rules is preferred.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

RN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, MD, DO, NP or PA (licensed in state of practice) is required
