Job Description

SAP BASIS TECHNICAL ARCHITECT – Abbott Laboratories / Waukegan, IL

Serve as Technical Lead for SAP Basis activities by providing daily support for existing functionalities and working with technical and infrastructure teams to define architecture and evaluate sizing of the servers to deliver business solutions and systems. Work across all phases of project development lifecycle (Project Prep, Business Blueprint, Realization, Final Preparation, Go-Live and into ongoing Production Support). Support large global integrated SAP environment with both ABAP and JAVA stacks, SAP Add-ons and third-party bolt-on products. Monitor and administer SAP NetWeaver JAVA systems using Configuration Tool, Visual Administration and Net Weaver Administration (NWA). Research, evaluate, and apply support packs, kernel upgrades and OSS notes, performance tuning, system monitoring, system upgrades, system design and builds for SAP NetWeaver AS JAVA systems utilizing Java Support Pack Manager (JSPM). Specify system components and direct modification of products to ensure conformance with technical and functional designs and performance specifications. Coordinate technical upgrades, day-to-day run activities and supporting on-going activities by assisting management with resource planning, define and streamline the upgrade procedures for uptime and downtime optimization, task assignment to the team members, troubleshoot and resolve the upgrade issues. Administer, configure, and maintain SAP environments utilizing Enterprise Portal v7.40, PI v7.40, ECC v7.40, SRM v7.40, BW/BI v7.50, BODS v4.2, BOBJ v4.1, GRC v10.1, APO/SCM v7.31, MDG v7.50, TDMS v7.02, Fiori SAPUI5, Solution Manager v7.2. Perform process improvement and maintenance activities for Enterprise Resource Planning’s Supplier relationship management (SRM), Supply Chain management (SCM) and sub process operations including SAP’s Business Intelligence. Design, build, and configure the SAP enterprise resource planning, supplier relationship management (SRM), Supply chain management, advance planning, optimization, and process integrated systems. Support evaluation of upgrades and future product enhancements and manage the new functionality of these systems. Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to ensure performance of SAP environment. Develop and maintain system documentation for system installation qualification. Maintain performance of the system utilizing knowledge in SAP Infrastructure, database and backups/restores, storage, networking, SSL Certification, HTML, Linux, UNIX and Windows operating systems. Responsible for administering large distributed and High Availability (HA) systems installation, disaster recovery, migrations, and systems build and copies. Support SAP multi-tier installation (i.e., N, N+1, N+2) and testing environment. Monitor business process performance, identification and execution of business process optimization and conduct analysis of daily production reports and queues. Administer SAP systems for SOX compliance, controlled or validated environments. Work with management to support technical activities to ensure smooth and reliable process flow without effecting live business and production. Support the evaluation of upgrades for future product enhancements and implementation of the new functionality of Enterprise resource planning (ERP). Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a in a closely related technical or quantitative science concentration (Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the above fields + 5 years of progressive professional experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) each alternative requirement with at least 1 year of experience in: (i) working across all phases of project development lifecycle (Project Prep, Business Blueprint, Realization, Final Preparation, Go-Live and into ongoing Production Support); (ii) supporting large global integrated SAP environment with both ABAP and JAVA stacks, SAP Add-ons and third-party bolt-on products; (iii) monitor and administer SAP NetWeaver JAVA systems using Configuration Tool, Visual Administration and Net Weaver Administration (NWA); (iv) researching, evaluating, and applying support packs, kernel upgrades and OSS notes, performance tuning, system monitoring, system upgrades, system design and builds for SAP NetWeaver AS JAVA systems utilizing Java Support Pack Manager (JSPM); (v) administering large distributed and High Availability (HA) systems installation, disaster recovery, migrations, and systems build and copies; (vi) supporting SAP multi-tier installations (i.e., N, N+1, N+2) and testing environments; (vii) administering SAP systems for SOX compliance, controlled or validated environments.
