Description Leadership: Provide leadership, communication and coordination for services with other departments supporting respiratory care services. Establish goals and strategies consistent with organizational goals and strategies. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clinical leadership and hospital departments to ensure close coordination and integration of medical staff, nursing and others toward the achievement of goal targets. Partners with medical director in co-leadership model to build a collaborative inter-professional practice environment. Facilitates the development and implementation of evidence-based practice. Promotes innovation and research to advance patient care models. Human Resources Management: Manages human resources for designated respiratory care services, including the selection, promotion, orientation, and performance evaluation process. Coaches, mentors, and develops caregivers in their professional practice and career development. Provides caregivers with an environment that supports their professional practice, health, and wellbeing. Adheres to NM standards on leadership, communication and visibility. Department Management: Assumes 24 hour accountability for quality of patient care, human resources and overall function. Ensures that staff exhibit patient first standards. Monitors research and investigational activity to assure compliance with hospital policies/procedures. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, hospital regulations, policies and procedures. Facilitates a collaborative approach to patient care and interdepartmental problem solving/service delivery. Develops and maintains relationships with all customers and suppliers. Manages people and resources to ensure safe and efficient patient care operations. AA/EOE.
Required: Bachelors degree in related field. Illinois License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP). National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). NBRC specialty credentials of Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) and Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) within one year of hire. Master s Degree or currently pursuing a Master s Degree in Respiratory Care, Health Administration, or Business Administration. Three years leadership experience. Preferred: Management experience for a respiratory care department in a major academic medical center.
