In your role as Lead Data Engineer, you will be a key member of the Data Services Team focused on increasing data availability to Shure end-users in support of enterprise initiatives. You will be responsible for building and supporting data pipelines at Shure as end users consume more data from more sources. Data types will include structured and unstructured, internal and external, IoT, etc.
+ Supports and helps design, build, deploy and maintain data architectures & pipelines, including Enterprise Data Catalog.
+ Builds frameworks and services to support DaaS.
+ Handles Data Governance, Security, Compliance, and Quality by creating and implementing methods, techniques and processes for continuous improvement.
+ Makes recommendations and provides strategic support regarding ways to make data and database operations more efficient and effective.
+ Ensures the data architecture will increase data “availability” for analysts and data scientists.
+ Supports enterprise-level data acquisition activities, ensuring architecture will support future business requirements.
+ Manages and improves the data ingestion pipelines that service our data lake and cloud analytical data warehouse.
+ Recommends and builds Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) or Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes as needed.
+ Conducts feature engineering in collaboration with data science projects.
+ Employs a variety of tool sand languages (scripting) to connect systems/data together.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related degree & relevant, demonstrated experience. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
+ Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Data Engineering role developing and managing data pipelines and cloud data warehouses.
+ Demonstrated experience with ETL tools, data systems, APIs and cloud data warehousing solutions, data modeling as well as end-user requirement gathering.
+ Excellent SQL and/or Python skills, with experience in building and interpreting complex queries.
+ Experience in database design and structure, with an emphasis on scalability for big data.
+ Past exposure to Agile / SCRUM.
+ Is customer/end-user focused with experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
+ Strong analytic, project management and organizational skills.
+ A strong curiosity and desire to develop new and innovative ways to build, improve and automate our data lifecycle management processes.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of industry practices and continues developing professional expertise.
+ Able to use professional concepts and apply company policies/procedures to work on problems/issues of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
+ Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
