We are seeking resumes for a Sr. Staff Engineer

Position Summary:

The Sr. Staff Engineer works with assigned plant(s) to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Additionally, the Sr. Staff Engineer coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Responsible for mechanical, electrical, environmental, quality, and production related items throughout the assigned plant(s), the Sr. Staff Engineer supports the assigned plant(s) transformation efforts through team participation and team leadership.

The corporate engineering arm of PCA is responsible for staffing experienced engineers who routinely ensure that engineering and quality standards are met at the plant level, identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiencies, and economic gain across the plants and are capable of providing training to plant level staff.The Sr. Staff Engineer is assigned a 2-3 plants and is responsible for providing technical expertise, training production and maintenance crews, ensuring compliance with corporate standards, and undertaking projects to improve the bottom line key success factors for assigned plant(s).

Principle Accountabilities:

Conduct assessment of or respond to manufacturing process improvement requests.Such requests may include improvement of existing processes and infrastructure, crew and management training needs, and/or testing or launching of new technologies and processes

Perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.

Support bottom line profit and loss improvement in all areas by conducting product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality and throughput improvement, and efficiency improvement

Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products and processes, including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.

Provide analytical lab services including environmental testing and monitoring of air, water, and solid waste

Maintain test equipment in productions areas

Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.

Identify economic, process, equipment, or other improvements opportunities and propose engineering projects to address them to positively impact the assigned plant(s) bottom line

Plan, develop, coordinate and direct assigned engineering projects to a successful completion by utilizing existing resources, writing appropriation requests, meeting the monetary budget, conducting project design reviews, communicating project specifications, reporting out progress and results, working across departments, effectively utilizing internal resources and securing outside consultants when needed, developing prototypes, and providing project documentation.

Collect data resulting from investigations and perform / obtain analyses up-date. Provide report with recommendations and conclusions.

Coordinate all activities associated with deployment of approved projects including training line staff, providing hand-on support, and conducting post-deployment maintenance

Participate in assigned plant(s) improvement projects and transformation efforts as well as promoting safety regulations

Ensure production crew and management has adequate training in regards to assigned projected and equipment

Knows and follows policies and procedures of the company shares information that would benefit other members of the team and finds ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.

Decision Making:

The Sr. Staff Engineer is required to makes independent decisions based sound engineering practices and existing corporate regulations.The Sr. Staff Engineer is expected to drive performance of the team to his/her project to meet goals.The Sr. Staff Engineer is expected to take general directions and from those directions make decisions as to his/her approach to completing assigned projects and is expected determine how to operate and conduct assigned tasks within the established standards and procedures

Interactions with Customers and Contacts:

Internally, the Sr. Staff Engineer interacts with manufacturing and support personnel to complete assigned work and provide technical expertise at all levels of the assigned plant(s). The Sr. Staff Engineer works closely with senior engineers in carrying out complex projects and provides training and guidance to junior engineers.Additionally, the Sr. Staff Engineer is responsible for oversight and communication of pertinent improvement activities to manufacturing staff and management.Externally, the Sr. Staff Engineer has a network of field and process experts and is expected to grow and maintain those company contacts.This position must also be able to develop contacts with new ideas/equipment and to be able to work with the assigned plant(s) and corporate staff to get those resources to the assigned plant(s) when needed.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required

10 years of work in a process engineering related role or equivalent. Paper plant experience or process knowledge preferred.

Must have good troubleshooting skills and knowledge of digital and analog control systems.

Ability to work with the required software for model based control applications.

Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members.

Good organizational skills, decision maker and results oriented.

Ability to learn and develop Model Predictive Controls on all areas of responsibilities.

Self-starter, willing to work with minimal supervision and input from those who explain the needed results.

Ability to develop and train on processes and systems being put into place.

Demonstrated effective facilitation, project execution, and follow-up and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated track record of independent project leadership and value creation.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook required.

Valid U.S. driver’s license and the ability to travel extensively
